Have you decided to go for the Char Dham Yatra this year? The Kedarnath yatra and the visit to the other holy places is something every religious person wishes to undertake. It is important that you plan well ahead for the 4 dham in Uttarakhand pilgrimage. We tell you all you need to know to plan your visit to these holy places.
You must know that the char dham temples are closed during the winters due to the inhospitable climate. The temples of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are open only for 6 months. This year, the char dham of Uttarakhand starts from 10th May.
The months from April to June are the best time to undertake the yatra. During summer months, the sky is clear. The temperatures are also mild and tolerable. By June, the monsoon commences, and from July to September there is heavy rain. There is a likelihood of storms and landslides. October to November is a good period to visit since there are no rains, but the weather would be very cold.
You can visit chardham by helicopter. It is the most convenient way since it is fast. By road, you can travel by bus, book a taxi, or drive using your own vehicle. Driving on mountain roads is not easy, and you must exercise caution. You can travel by train to Haridwar or Rishikesh, and then travel from there by other means.
Usually, you will start your Uttarakhand char dham yatra from Rishikesh or Dehradun. From there, you will go to Mussoorie, Barkot, and then reach the first step of the Yatra at Yamunotri. Once you finish the darshan at Yamunotri, you have to return to Barkot. From there, you will leave for Uttarakashi, to reach Gangotri. After Gangotri, you will return to Rishikesh or Dehradun and leave for Guptakashi.
From Guptakashi, you will leave for Gaurikund, and then go by trekking to Kedarnath. Once you finish Kedarnath, you leave to Joshimath, and from there reach the final point at Badrinath.
The best way to complete the yatra is to opt for a chardham tour package. If you choose a trustworthy tour provider like Jagannath Tours you will be assured of a trouble-free experience and a great yatra.
