The five temples are located in the Upper Himalaya, against the backdrop of the snow-capped Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, and Neelkanth peaks. Kedarnath is situated in the Mandakini Stream valley while different hallowed places are arranged in the high countries between the Mandakini valley and the Alaknanda gorge. With the exception of Rudranath, none of the temples are on motorable roads, and they are all far away. In a remote northern part of the Garhwal Himalayas, the village of Kedarnath is on the edge of the Kedarnath mountain slope.

The Dudhganga, Madhuganga, Swargaduari and Saraswathi are the streams that stream in the valley behind the Kedarnath sanctuary. Tungnath has a noteworthy background of the pinnacles of Panchachuli, Nanda Devi, Dunagiri, Kedarnath and Bandar Poonch and is arranged close to Chopta, which is at close to Ukhimath. Kalpeshwar is situated in the Urgam valley in a thick woods region. Apple orchards and terraced potato fields abound in the Urgam Valley. Kalp Ganga Stream, a feeder of the Alaknanda, courses through this valley.
