Kedarnath is the northern most Jyotirling located in the Himalayan range. It is in Uttarakhand state in the Garhwal region on the banks of the river Mandakini. It is believed that the Pandavas built the temple of Kedarnath. The Skanda Purana has a reference to Kedarnath as the place where Lord Shiv released the Ganga to earth.
